Janes & Hooch, Beijing
Beijing’s bar scene is experiencing a style movement, and this 21st-century rebuilding of a 1930s New York speakeasy is the pioneer of the pack. Set over 2 minimal floors in the in vogue South Sanlitun town, its dim, agonizing inner parts are slashed from untreated wooden bars and block, with chocolate-cowhide topped bar stools first floor and comfortable couches in the upstairs parlor.
Don’t be timid, this is a spot to taste and be seen: as the clock ticks past midnight, the swarm swells with post-shift gourmet experts, media experts and Chinese models.
