Living the High Life in Bangkok

Thailand’s fast-paced and fascinating capital city of Bangkok has lots of places where you can inject some luxury into your stay.  Accommodation wise there are stunning luxury hotels and charmingly elegant boutique hotels, as well as high end condos and apartments.  There are gourmet restaurants galore, serving a wide range of tasty cuisine from all over the globe, as well as swish and stylish bars.  There are plenty of ways to enjoy the high life in Bangkok … here are some ideas to get you in the holiday mood and inspire you.

1. Explore the Canals

Charter your own long tail boat and relax as you cruise along the Chao Praya River and through the quiet and peaceful canals and see a different side of the city.  Leave the bright lights, traffic jams, and hive of activity behind as you catch a glimpse of a more rural way of life and take a peek into the Bangkok of yesteryear.  You’ll also see a number of splendid sights, such as the striking Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of the Dawn, and beautiful orchards and orchid farms.

2. Visit a Sky Bar

Bangkok boasts a large number of excellent sky bars where you can soak up the views of the city skyline whilst dining on delicious food and sipping on a cocktail or another tipple of choice.  One of the most popular is the elegant Sirocco, part of Lebua on the 63rd floor of State Tower.  As well as being one of the tallest bars in the world and one of the most sought-after Bangkok destinations, it also featured in a popular movie.  Admire the views and take pleasure in the sophisticated ambiance.

3. Indulge in Some Spas

Relax and unwind in serene surroundings in one of the many high class spas, and enjoy a famous energetic Thai massage or a soothing oil massage, as well as a wide range of other treatments and techniques.  Why not treat yourself to some pampering and try one of the many hair and beauty treatments?  You will probably be surprised to see that the prices are a fraction of back at home too, letting you enjoy some luxury for less.  There are many top class spas to choose from, including those that can accommodate couples or small groups together.  You can book a single treatment or a package, spending a day, or longer, in a heavenly setting.

4. Shop in the Malls

Why not splurge a little and enjoy some retail therapy in one of the many decadent malls?  There are so many to choose from!  You’ll find products from internationally renowned designers from all around the globe … with clothing, footwear, accessories, jewellery, home ware, and more, you really will be spoilt for choice!  Some of the best malls include Central Embassy, Siam Paragon, Terminal 21, and EmQuartier.
