Boryeong Mud Festival

Depending on your taste for adventure, these images either look really awesome or like a total nightmare. Taken at the Boryeong Mud Festival, they represent the millions of people came out for one reason only – to get muddy. The festival attracted 2.2 million visitors for its 13th annual event that took place from July 17 through Jul 25th. The mud, which is considered rich in minerals and used to manufacture cosmetics, is dug up near Boryeong, trucked to the Daecheon beach area, and dumped at a ‘Mud Experience Land’. The event has been gaining popularity each year, attracting local and tourists alike.
