World’s Best Rooftop Bars
Unless you’re afraid of heights, the view from the top is always the finest. Capitalizing on their vertical advantages, many hotels are creating chic bars and lounges on the rooftop – giving guests and night owls a fabulous open air space to soak up the scene along with a few signature cocktails. ABC News recently put together a list of the World’s Best Rooftop Bars. The list includes several high-elevation spots that offer great drinks and stunning views.
Vertigo, located on the rooftop of the 61-story Banyan Tree Bangkok, is named for Alfred Hitchcock’s famous thriller. This bar is sculpted with escalated platforms and low walls that allow for an outstanding 360-degree panorama of the city.
At the tiny Naumi Hotel in Singapore, guests can choose to stay on the ladies-only floor attended to by female-only staff. But for some coed fun, they can head up to the rooftop bar, which offers spectacular views of the city.
Top of the Strand, located in the new Strand Hotel in New York, has a very open, airy, cabana-like feel. The 21st floor lounge features a retractable glass roof and a bird’s eye view of the Empire State Building, just three blocks south.
At the ME Madrid hotel, the best views of the famous Plaza Santa Ana can be found at The Penthouse, the hotel’s rooftop terrace that overlooks the city. Guests are invited to recline under the stars on luxurious beds or hang out indoors in the lush lounge.
