Hammock-Filled House – Vienna

In terms of Internet timing, this certainly isn’t new. But that doesn’t make it any less noteworthy. FLEDERHAUS is a (fairly) new public space project by Austrian design firm Heri & Salli. A literal translation of the term “hangout,” the five-story building was built to “serve as an oasis of relaxation and a symbol of a vertical public sphere.”As far as the giant boob structure out front, I’m just as confused as you are. Perhaps it makes for a better, more relaxing view?

Correction: The word “fleder” means “flying,” not “flying mouse” (which in german, is “fledermaus”). Flederhaus means “flying house”.
