In the travelsphere (blogsphere +travel. no?), you’re constantly bombarded with lists of things to and places to see. To mix things up a bit, Concierge.com put together a list of things to avoid when in Paris. 10 Things Not to Do in Paris is a must read, and certainly something you won’t find in your typical travel guide. Here are a few of our favorites:
Shop the Champs Elysses
This would be the equivalent of shopping or dining in New York’s Times Square…unless of course you’re not familiar with NYC, and therefore, we apologize. Calling the area an overrun tourist trap, they instead suggest that you visit areas off the beaten path, for more authentic experiences and reasonable prices.
Avoid an art attack
No, they’re not talking about eating at the McDonalds found at the Louvre, Concierge suggests not spending an entire day at the world’s largest museum or the equally celebrated Musee d’Orsay. Skip the long lines, large crowds and overwhelming amount of works to see and visit one of the city’s lesser known such as, Musee Rodin.
Waste Time at the Eiffel Tower
The bottom line here is that the best part about the Eiffel Tower is the role it plays in the Paris skyline. You can’t soak that up if you’re standing on the crowded tower itself. Instead, book a table at a quieter restaurant where you can enjoy the magical beauty that the world’s most famous landmark has to offer.
